The eleven-day Jerusalem International Film Festival opens on July 13 in the Sultan’s Pool with the outdoor screening of Michel Hazanvicius’ Redoubtable to an audience of 5,000 people. Hazanavicius, whose film The Artist won five Oscars in 2011, including Best Picture and Best Director, will attend the festive opening- night ceremony and screening. Redoubtable is a fictionalized look at the life of director Jean-Luc Godard.
The 34th JFF continues the traditions of opening with the glamorous opening night at the Sultan’s Pool, showcasing avant-garde and innovative works and holding professional events catering to the international film industry. The eleven-day festival has become a highlight for locals and tourists alike as it attracts thousands of people to over 180 screenings of new Israeli and international films from morning until night and has become a point of attraction for filmmakers both Israeli and from around the world.
