In recognition of his contributions to Buddhist Tourism, P Ashok Kumar, Director of Maanas Sarover Tours and Travels, has been appointed as an Advisor on the board of the Association of Buddhist Tour Operators (ABTO) until December 9, 2024.

Kumar, who also holds positions as the secretary of the Association of Domestic Tour Operators of India (ADTOI) – Tamil Nadu chapter, and a member of the Adventure Tour Operators Association of India (ATOAI), is being recognized for his substantial contributions to the promotion of tourism centered around Buddhist Pilgrimage & Culture globally, with a particular focus on the Asia-Pacific region.

Dr. Kaulesh Kumar, Secretary General and Founder of ABTO, praised Kumar's dedication and service to the sector, highlighting the positive impact his work has had on the promotion of Buddhist tourism. This appointment marks a pivotal moment for ABTO, as they bring on board a veteran with deep insights and experience in the travel and tourism industry.

Kumar's impressive career spans over 27 years, during which he has significantly influenced the tourism landscape. His agency, Maanas Sarover Tours and Travels, is known for its comprehensive approach to travel, encompassing adventure tourism in South India, as well as domestic, international, pilgrim, and medical tourism. Additionally, the company serves as a Destination Management Company (DMC) for Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Burma, and the Andaman Islands, showcasing its wide-ranging expertise and commitment to promoting diverse travel experiences.

The inclusion of Kumar on the ABTO board as an Advisor is expected to further bolster the organization's efforts in showcasing Buddhist heritage sites and promoting cultural exchange through tourism.
